THE LETTER

   Dear Alison,

I think it would be a mistake for you to visit me. As you know, our state has legalized the eating of long pig not just for survival, but pleasure, so there is a tremendous demand. I suppose the farms are better, more organized; at least you're not afraid of someone pulling a knife and fork on you in the street anymore. Here they give us plenty of warning so we're not traumatized which apparently toughens the flesh, and they can't take us before the allotted time provided we keep eating our prescribed amount. (You wouldn't believe how fat I am). They provide us with everything, I'm much happier than when I was struggling, although I miss not being able to exercise. Still, I don't think it's a good idea for you to see me like this, it's upsetting if you're not accustomed to it. It's not hideous until they come to get us, but don't worry my due date is months away, three months and seventeen days, to be exact. So write me a note when you get this, and don't tell Mom.

Love,
Jennifer-2375877658
